Dog Walk Rehab is about recalibrating the dog’s behavior through walk therapy. Our rehabilitation techniques build trust and respect by teaching the owner how to correct a range of behavioral issues by mastering the dog walk. This leads to deeper loyalty and cooperation. Also ideal for rescue dogs who need special consideration.
Our Philosophy
Dog Walk Rehab is about humans focusing on ourselves and the way we live and interact with our dogs rather than it being about fixing the dog or teaching them to do tricks. Rehabilitation is the process that comes before what we generally think of as training, such as shake, roll over, catch a frisbee. Dog Walk Rehab is about guiding dogs back to balance by focusing on their mind and their emotional state through The Walk, by first establishing trust & friendship. Then we move on to respect & leadership. Next is the hard part ...we move onto what the humans need to change in their lives to make their situation with their dogs work.
"Travis is like the Pied Piper
but with Dogs.
Happy Dog. Happy Life."
"We are so thankful for Travis and his patience with our pups."
"Just wanted to give my neighbors a heads up about a great experience I’ve had with Travis Brown"
HOW TO BE IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHAT TO DO
There are no short cuts in the dog world. I rarely use treats, and I don’t use shock or prong collars. Besides a simple slip lead, I quietly, calmly and confidently project my intentions by using energy/body language to communicate on an instinctual level.
THE JOURNEY OF
A THOUSAND STEPS
BEGINS WITH ONE
At the end of the day I need my dog to listen all of the time. Not for the sake of my ego but for my dogs safety. Dogs are basically forced to conform to our human world, so it’s important and only fair that we try to understand them on a deeper level so we can truly provide for them the love, direction and protection they need and deserve. Ask yourself. If the front door was accidentally left open or my dog accidentally got off leash, would they be safe?...Dogs that behave well are safe and can go places and experience the world.
A Dog is the Most Honest Friend You Will Ever Have
A happy dog is a dog that lives in a safe, organized pack structure with a clear leader or leaders. Dogs can live and thrive with many species but socializing with their own kind is most important I believe. Dogs playing and socializing with other dogs is the true end goal. That’s when the real rehabilitation back to balance begins, we just help them get ready for that point.
